By Hotel & Restaurant, May 7th, 2013

The hotel management company set up last year by Guy Stehlik Is about to make a breakthrough In The Middle East, but he says Southern Africa remains the main target for the group's value-adding proposition Guy Stehlik, founder and CEO of Bon Hotels, has set his sights on becoming a front-runner in both the South African and international hospitality sectors. He has revealed that he expects his hotel management group set up last year to have at least 10 hotel management contracts by the end of 2013. And they will not be confined to Southern Africa, he says. They could be "anywhere where we can genuinely add value — the big advantage of our operation is that it certainly does not have to be confined to one territory:' Stehlik expects Bon to be managing its first three hotels in Dubai within a few months.
The brightly painted Hotel Verde aims to be both a landmark for visitors to Cape Town and a sustainability benchmark for other hospitality establishments in Africa Opening in July, on Michigan Street just 500 metres from the Cape Town International Airport terminus, is the 145-room Hotel Verde, billed as 'Africa's greenest hotel'. It is the brainchild of Mario and Annemarie Delicio of Dematech, who are passionate about sustainability and have systematically transformed what was initially just a sensible business proposition into a showcase for some of the most advanced environmentally conscious technological installations, construction methods and operational practices in the world.
"We have a responsibility as a company, as an employer and as a visitor on this planet to live as sustainably as possible. This is the only way we can survive long-term and hand over to our children in a responsible manner."
